Herbal insect repellent

To make 10 liters

44g lemon myrtle - leaves

85g lavender - fresh flowers leaves & stems

111g lantana - leaves flowers & stems

288g blue top - roots leaves flowers & stems

205g fleabane - leaves & stems

Total herb grams 733g

Cover herbs with alcohol to steep for 2 weeks

After 2 weeks strain off liquid. (Should be approximately 3 liters ) Measure the volume of tincture. Add enough water(about 7 liters) to make up 10 liters. This will equate to approximately 30 % alcohol tincture ready for application.

You might need to apply more often in the wet season, however it should last at least 2-3 weeks. I would suggest observing what “weeds” you have on farm and do a bit of research, as most healing remedies are found in the vicinity of where they are most needed. An interesting book to read are:

Weeds of the Sunshine Coast - Joan Heavey & Sonia MacDonald

Hope you find this helpful.
